San Angelo metropolitan area

The San Angelo Metropolitan Statistical Area is a metropolitan area in West Texas that covers two counties - Tom Green and Irion. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 105,781 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 110,119).[1]

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 105,781 people, 40,197 households, and 27,306 families residing within the MSA. The racial makeup of the MSA was 79.27% White, 4.07% African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.84% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 12.71% from other races, and 2.38% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 30.61% of the population.

The median income for a household in the MSA was $35,324 and the median income for a family was $42,470. Males had a median income of $31,796 versus $20,539 for females. The per capita income for the MSA was $18,920.
