KSTR-DT
KSTR-DT, digital channel 48 (virtual channel 49), is a Spanish-language general entertainment television station in Irving, Texas, serving the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. It is currently owned by Univision, and broadcasts as a TeleFutura owned-and-operated station.
History
As KLTJ-TV (Keep Looking To Jesus), the station ran Christian teaching programming from Trinity Broadcasting Network from March 1984 to September 1986. The station was then sold to the Home Shopping Network and switched to Shop at Home programs from HSN as KHSX (Home Shopping in Texas).
The KLTJ call letters were reused twice for stations in Houston, Texas: from 1987 to 1989 on independent channel 57 (now KAZH), and since 1989 on channel 22, a Daystar affiliate. (The three stations have no other connection.)
Silver King owned the HSN stations, and USA Broadcasting bought them by 1996. Two years later, they've added daily 1 hour newscasts from Bloomberg TV at 6AM and then added classic children's programming on Sunday mornings. In late 1999, USA Broadcasting switched the station to a general entertainment format under the call sign KSTR-TV (Meaning "K-Star") airing primarily syndicated cartoons, reality shows (America's Funniest Home Videos; Real TV), sitcoms (Sister, Sister; The Three Stooges; The Andy Griffith Show; NewsRadio), dramas (Knight Rider; The A-Team), talk shows, and movies as well as newscasts from The News of Texas plus USA's original shows. During this period, it was the official Dallas/Fort Worth station for Dallas Mavericks Basketball.

Due to financial problems in 2001, USA and KSTR eliminated its programming by half and readded HSN as a part-time offering from 8AM to Noon weekdays. That same year, they planned to sell KSTR to Disney/ABC which would've created a partnership for Belo-owned ABC affiliate WFAA-TV, but Univision outbid its competition in a close race. During the September 11 attacks, KSTR simulcasted live coverage from its now-sister station KUVN before resuming what's left of their regular programming a few days later. In 2002 it was later changed to a TeleFutura affiliate. KSTR's English programming though would move to former Telemundo affiliate KFWD. All Dallas Mavericks games were moved to KTXA.
KSTR chose to operate exclusively on digital television starting January 12, 2009, prior to the original mandatory DTV transition date of February 17, 2009 (see DTV transition in the United States).[1] Its analog channel (channel 49) remained on the air for two weeks, displaying only a static panel with a message in Spanish. Translated to English, the message stated "we have stopped broadcasting our analog signal. From January 12, only a digital signal is being broadcast."
