KRIS
KRIS-TV is the NBC-affiliated television station for South Texas. It is licensed to Corpus Christi, and broadcasts a high definition digital signal on VHF channel 13 from a transmitter in Robstown. Owned by Cordillera Communications (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Evening Post Publishing Company), the station is sister to low-power Independent K47DF, low-power Telemundo affiliate K68DJ, and CBS affiliate KZTV (owned by Eagle Creek Broadcasting and operated through shared services agreement).
All four stations share studios on Artesian Street in Downtown Corpus Christi. Syndicated programming on KRIS-TV includes: Inside Edition, Oprah, Ellen, and People's Court. It operates the area's CW affiliate on a second digital subchannel. Known on-air as CW South Texas, it can also be seen on Grande Communications channel 16 and Time Warner channel 23. KRIS-DT2 gets all of its programming from The CW Plus.

History
KRIS-TV was the first television station in the United States to air hard liquor ads since a self-imposed industry ban was placed on them in 1948. A commercial for Crown Royal whiskey aired on the station in 1996 featuring a puppy with a diploma and one carrying a Crown Royal bag in its mouth. On July 23, 2008, Eagle Creek Broadcasting announced that it had sold KZTV to Cordillera Communications. The application to sell the station was opposed by McKinnon Broadcasting, the owner of ABC affiliate KIII. This objection held up the deal until August 24, 2009 when Eagle Creek announced a shared services agreement with KRIS. Cordillera Communications now owns all KZTV assets with Eagle Creek owning the broadcast license.
At noon on June 12, this station shut off its analog signal. Its analog audio signal transmitted on a frequency of 87.75 MHz (+10 kHz shift), and as a result, could be picked up on the lower end of the dial on most FM radios at 87.7. This was true of all other analog channel 6 stations in North America. This is no longer true for full-powered stations after the conversion to digital broadcasting.
Newscasts
Its newscasts have been known as Pro 6 News, NewsCenter 6, Channel 6 News, and finally 6 News. After KRIS-TV merged with KZTV, they moved into the latter's facilities which are currently undergoing physical upgrades and remodeling. Originally, this station had studios on South Staples Street in Downtown Corpus Christi. Starting May 2010, the two stations will be broadcasting two distinct news brands. Like all CW Plus affiliates in the Central Time Zone, KRIS-DT2 airs the nationally syndicated morning show The Daily Buzz on weekdays from 5 to 8 a.m.
