The station is currently owned by Border Media Partners, LLC through its licensee BMP RGV License Company, L.P., and features programming from Citadel Media. The station has obtained a construction permit from the FCC for a power increase to 37,000 watts.[2]
History
The Federal Communications Commission issued a construction permit for the station to Sendero Multimedia, Inc. on 1980-12-15.[3] The station was assigned the call sign KSOX-FM on 1981-11-16, and received its license to cover on 1983-04-21.[4] On 1999-04-22, the station changed its call sign to KILM. The station's license and that of Mirando City, Texas-based KBDR were assigned by Sendero on 2003-04-03 to the current owner, Border Media, at a purchase price of $8,000,000.[5] The station once more changed its call sign on 2005-01-19, to KTFM, on 2005-01-26 to KLEY-FM, and on 2005-02-02 to the current KBUC.[6]
